Juan Diego Flórez sings Mozart
Juan Diego Flórez sings Mozart.
The most anticipated all-Mozart recital takes place at the Cuvilliés Theatre of Munich, one of the most beautiful Bavarian Rococo theatres. It is named after its architect, François Cuvilliés the Elder, and consists of the auditorium of a theatre that Elector Maximilian Joseph III built in 1751-55 as his "new opera house". In 1762, Mozart visited Munich at the age of six and gave one of his first concerts together with his sister Nannerl for Maximilian Joseph III. Many lavish opera productions were mounted here, including the premieres of Mozart's La finta giardiniera in 1775, and Idomeneo, in 1781. The concert program includes many of the best-loved Mozart arias – all of them magnificently performed by the Orchestra La Scintilla, specialized in historically-informed performance on original instruments, and led by Riccardo Minasi.
